120 km from Termez, in the village of Dalverzin, lie the ruins of the ancient city of Bactria, which was certainly the capital of the Kushan kingdom. Today, one can walk in the abandoned excavation areas. One still distinguishes clearly the two parts of the city with theark, the citadel, and the dwellings. The size of the site has allowed the discovery of many objects: ceramics, sculptures, figurines, jewelry, wall frescoes... The excavations have shown that the city was at the crossroads of cultures of its time, with two Zoroastrian temples and many details of construction of Greco-Bactrian art. The excavations attest to the occupation of the site between the 2nd century BC and the 3rd century.
