Tashkent : Discover

Tashkent, a former stopover on the Silk Road, largely rebuilt after the 1966 earthquake, is an unexpected and heterogeneous universe. Between the renovated old quarters of Chorsu and the Soviet city now stands a city within a city, Tashkent City, reserved for oligarchs and the wealthiest fringe of the population, in the image of the arks, or citadels, of the ancient cities of Sogdiana. And yet, Tashkent is a city that is easy to discover and pleasant to live in. The new bars and restaurants that have sprung up thanks to the wind of freedom blowing through the country since the demise of President Karimov, have given the Uzbek capital the dimension of modernity it lacked until now. This pleasant, often overlooked stopover is sure to win over more and more curious visitors, ready to discover a more cosmopolitan version of the country.
