The Old Synagogue, one of the oldest in the country, was built in its Gothic style at the end of the 15th century when the Jews settled in Kazimierz and was restored in 1959 when it was decided to turn it into a museum. Since then it has housed the Museum of Jewish History and Culture. A separate room is dedicated to the history of the extermination of the Jews, including a series of photographs of life in the Jewish quarter before and during World War II.

construite en style gothique à la fin XVe siècle, lors de l'installation des juifs dans Kazimierz, ( quartier super- intéressant de Cracovie : à voir ! ) , elle fut fort endommagée par les nazis, mais restaurée en 1956-1959 quand on décida d'en faire un musée.C'est la plus ancienne synagogue de Pologne : elle abrite le musée de l'Histoire et de la Culture juive. Une salle à part est consacrée à l'histoire de l'extermination des juifs, avec une série de photos sur la vie dans le quartier juif avant et pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale.
