PHARE
It's a beautiful lighthouse, painted flamboyant red and standing 41.50 m high, built in 1942 by the Nazis on the site of an earlier lighthouse dating from 1872. Locals blew it up on September 19, 1939, to defend the town against the Germans (it was too good a landmark for Nazi artillery, which targeted the military batteries installed at Hel). In good weather, the new lighthouse's light can be seen from up to 18 nautical miles away. Marshal Piłsudski visited the lighthouse in 1928, which is commemorated by a plaque.
