SYNAGOGUE (SYNAGOGA)

The history of the Jews in Poznań was almost entirely overshadowed by Nazism. But strangely, the main synagogue is still standing. Built in 1907 by Berlin's architects, it costs 1 million marks, a huge sum for the time. As a result, the Nazis turn it into a swimming pool, a function that it still retains today, after it has been returned to the Jewish community! The current project is to convert it into a centre for the Jewish community of the city, but at the moment you can still go swimming.
