The Peña de la Cruz, to the west of the city, is 800 m above sea level. The Agustín Morel monk from Santa Cruz would have planted this cross to avoid the hills collapsing on the city (it was then subjected to torrential rains and incessant landslides, and the symbolic mountain was responsible for all these evils)! Take one hour to climb at the top. On May 3, you will not be alone: on that day, thousands of pilgrims carried out the climb (a mass was celebrated at the summit at 9 p. m.).
