CENTRAL PARK
It's pleasant to linger in the shade of the trees in the central plaza Máximo Jerez Tellería (named after an illustrious Romantic liberal, 1815-1881), and watch the people go by. The marble statue of the famous Jerez was donated by Marco Aurelio Soto, then president of Honduras; the four iron lions guarding it are gifts from Justo Rufino Barrios, then president of Guatemala. Superb colonial structures display their worn or gleaming facades in the surrounding area. You can buy food and drink from street stalls.
