IGLESIA SAN FRANCISCO

The Church of San Francisco is one of the oldest in the city, dating back to 1639, as was the convent of the same name. It remained unoccupied after the expulsion of the Order in 1830, then became part of the Instituto Nacional de Occidente in 1881. Pretty altarpieces inside. The white and yellow façade is beautifully maintained. Also worth seeing is the sculpture by artist Maruca César de Gómez, erected in this church in 2017: named Paz, hermano lobo, it is inspired by a famous poem by Rubén Darío, the text of which can be read at the base.
