The imposing and colourful cathedral is not very old, that of origin having been destroyed by Walker. The new building was raised from 1880 and was almost completed in 1910 on the plans of Italian architect Andres Zapata after some péripéties (lack of funds, faults in construction, etc.). The last hit the building dates back to 1972.
