Every year in March-April, the cod returns to the Lofoten Islands! So in Svolvaer, we decided to celebrate by organizing the international cod fishing festival. This festival was first held in 1991. Today there are about 600 participants, most of them amateurs, 80 boats taking part in the competition, and even more visitors attracted by the festivities. This 4-day festival is a good representation of the local culture!
