Travel Guide Azougui

Azougui is 8 km from Atar. The tarred road that leads there is parallel to an electric line and a water pipe that allows Atar to meet its consumption for the moment. The road, initially rectilinear, arrives soon at the pass of N' Tarazi where it is necessary to stop to admire the superb palm plantation which extends in front of you, several tens of meters below. Azougui was the seat of the capital of the Almoravids in the 11th century, they built the fortress Arki in the middle of twenty thousand palm trees. Nowadays, Azougui is a peaceful oasis which is inflamed during the Guetna, the festival of dates which takes place in July and August.
