Perhaps you know the Mauritanian singer Sira Dramé? If so, you have already heard the name Sélibabi: the diva Sira pays tribute to her hometown in a song! Sélibabi is the capital of the Guidimaka region, where Soninké, Peuls and Maures live side by side, creating a cultural mix. Here, the vegetation moves away from the Sahelian profile to get closer to the one in force in the Sudanese climate: baobabs are more and more numerous, and the inhabitants of Sélibabi live mainly from recession agriculture (sorghum, millet, corn, cowpeas). From Sélibabi, it is possible to travel to Kayes in Mali, via Bakel and Kidira.
