Bus or shuttle? To reach the city by bus, you should take the Carsud C bus to the city center (on the right as you leave the airport). Shuttles can be a good and more practical alternative, especially if you land at night. It is more expensive, but you will be dropped off at your hotel. Reservations are required.

Rental cars. Avis, Budget, Red Dot, Europcar and Hertz have counters at the airport. Cabs are also available on request.

Home-hotel-airport transfer. One of the oldest professionals in La Tontouta. It is highly recommended to book 48 hours in advance. Air Calédonie International (Aircalin), the French Pacific airline, serves many destinations from New Caledonia: Japan (Tokyo and Osaka), Australia (Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane), New Zealand (Auckland), Vanuatu, Fiji, French Polynesia (Papeete), Wallis & Futuna... If you are transiting through Tokyo, it is probably the airline that will take you from Japan to Noumea. The stopovers can also be in Singapore. Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. non-stop and on rue Desmazures, in the city center, opposite the ferry terminal. The SMTU also manages the Néo Bus which will serve the 13 km line 1 from Dumbéa Médipôle to downtown Nouméa, Place Moselle.

To the Isle of Pines. Several flights are scheduled each day (20 min flight). Book in advance.

To the Loyalty Islands. Departure every day to the three islands (40 min flight).

To Grande Terre. Air Calédonie serves Koné, Koumac, Touho and the Bélep Islands, in conjunction with Air Loyauté.

Please note that hand luggage must not exceed 5 kg (45 x 35 x 20 cm) and the control is strict (12 kg in the hold). Check in 1 hour before departure. Check-in closes 30 minutes before take-off.

From the ferry terminal, here is a more economical solution than flying to the Isle of Pines, Maré and Lifou. Inquire online about fares, departure times and services that change according to the season and events. You can book on the website to avoid queuing. 16 kg of luggage allowed per adult, and 10 kg per child (an advantage when you want to travel with bike + cooler + tent). The planned routes are : Noumea/Ile des Pins (3h) and Noumea/Loyalty Islands (4h for Maré and 5h for Lifou).

All flights to the Loyalty Islands (Lifou, Maré, Ouvéa and Tiga), the Isle of Pines, the Belep Islands, the West Coast (Koné and Koumac) and the East Coast (Touho) depart from and land at Magenta. There is an I-point on site, a cafeteria and an ATM. Take advantage of it because on the islands, they are more rare. It is possible to leave your car in the terminal's parking lot, but it is often crowded. There is a second parking lot called P2 with a shuttle.
