Coming from Thanbyuzayat and oblique towards the coast, you will reach the beach of Setse by a small road in the pine forests, 80 km from Mawlamyine. Setse offers the opportunity to swim in the warm waters of the chocolate-coloured Martaban Sea, because of the river mouth a few kilometres away. The hotel infrastructure is practically non-existent. One has to make do with the few gargotes, where one can refresh oneself, eat a curry and drink the juice of a coconut. On the beach, half an hour's walk away, there is a local Mont-Saint-Michel, only accessible at low tide, when the sea discovers a passage in the rock to an island that hides a meditation centre. On the beach, set back among the palm trees, is a fishing village where the fishermen transform the seafood into nuoc-mâm in large vats under the houses, or dry it and sell it in the stands at the entrance to the beach.
