The beaches of Kanthayar are reserved for lovers of solitude. Indeed, still little frequented by the Burmese, the beach is spared by the umbrellas of the oxcarts which make comings and goings on the beach of Chaungtha, and by the luxury hotels of Ngapali. Tranquillity guaranteed on the desert island "du Canard", opposite Kanthayar. It is inhabited by only one person and the fishermen go there only for... fishing. Rent a boat to cross to the island, dotted with extraordinary shells. But treading the fine sand of Kanthayar's dream beaches is a privilege, and one that is well deserved. Kanthayar can only be reached by road from Thandwe or Yangon. Pathein is a hundred kilometres from Gwa, close to Kanthayar. From Pathein, one reaches the junction of Ngathaing-Gyaung on the road to Ngapali, up to Gwa, 26 km from the beach of Kanthayar. Then count half an hour to enter paradise.
