MARCHÉ BOGYOKE AUNG SAN
It includes more than 2,000 stalls, food, jewellery, antiques, handicrafts, fashion. This market was inaugurated in 1926, under the name of Scott Market, a high-ranking city official. Renamed after the national hero, General Aung San, both names are used. Here, all your souvenirs of Burma: cheroots, longyis, lacquers, rattan, flip-flops, puppets, instruments, and a large section of precious stones and jewellery.
Opposite the old Bogyoke market, a recent building houses the new market, very well stocked with textiles: Longyis by the kilometer!
