To the west of Mpulungu, on the southern shore of Lake Tanganyika, this park extends over 2,000 km2. Among its attractions, then, are its unspoilt shores of sandy beaches or rocky coves, but also, in the interior, its hilly meadows, steep valleys and marshy areas. The Lufubu River winds west of the park through 300 m high cliffs. The thinner Nkamba and Chisala rivers attract more animals. These three rivers shelter some pretty wild waterfalls, only accessible by two-day hikes (to be organized imperatively near the lodges!). As in many other Zambian parks, wildlife is recovering after decades of poaching. Leopards, lions and elephants are present but still quite rare. On the other hand, there are many buffaloes, all kinds of antelopes (impalas, kobs, black hippotragues, elands, damalisques, harnessed guibs, pukus, duikers...), as well as zebras and nocturnal species. This side of the lake is full of hippos and crocodiles up to 6 m long! The banks are also distinguished by the presence of fig trees, candelabra trees and, above all, strange rocks placed one on top of the other and to which the populations of the region attribute a sacred character. With the park's three lodges located on the shores of the lake, fishing is a favourite activity with much sought-after catch: Nile perch, tiger goliath fish, vundu catfish, salmon and yellow belly.Admission fee: adult US$10, car US$15, fishing US$30 per person.
