Fabulous- all communication with staff before and during the cruise was exemplary. Traditional well-equipped boat and delicious lunches provided. Highly recommend. Didn’t want it to end- we’d just got used to the relaxing pace!

Wonderful trip up the Mekong from Luang Prabang to the Thai border.
Very relaxing, and a lovely local family own and run the boat.
Everything very well coordinated by Shompoo. Excellent lunches on both days and we made friends with the other 20 people on board, from all over the world! The cave and village visits wee interesting too.
A very good night's stay at the Sanctuary in Pakbeng at the half way point. A really great part of our holiday.

Our downstream cruise in mid Jan exceeded expectations. So glad we went with Shompoo!! Excellent service from start to finish. Guide Sene was helpful, friendly and informative throughout, lunches were delicious, boat (and western style toilets) was clean and comfy, staff were beyond helpful and friendly. This scenic experience on the Mekong was the perfect way to get to Luang Prabang.

Our family of 5 (with 3 young adults) had a wonderful trip on the 2 day Shompoo Cruise from Huay Xai to Luang Prabang. The border crosing process from Thailand to Laos in order to commence the journey was quite easy. I would suggest arranging Laos e-visa before leaving home. We were met at the Laos border by our guide Mr Sommay who accompanied us thru the entire trip. He was such a warm funny person - everyone enjoyed his anecdotes and observations. Sommay organized everything perfectly en route and is a credit to ShompooCruises. He even assisted getting a lost iphone back to my wife that was left at the hotel on the first night. The boat was super comfortable and a wonderful place to be for 2 days meandering down the beautiful Mekong. The accommodation in Pak Beng at the Sanctuary Hotel was lovely and suprisingly comfortable give its remoteness. The villages that we stopped at were very basic and authentic and it was a real insight seeing the local life and culture on the river. I would suggest bringing some cash to purchase some of the local handicrafts in these villages. Any small items or school supplies that you could bring for the local kids I am sure woiuld be appreciated. The cruise was the best part of our trip to SE Asia and I would highly recommend to all!

Very nice, relaxing and pleasant cruise. We are lulled to the rhythm of the Mekong with breathtaking landscapes in real comfort. Our guide accompanied us from start to finish with kindness, attention and humor. I thank him for these few words of French said to please me.
I highly recommend this cruise, I promise you won't regret it.

Fantastic boat ride up the river. Food was great on board. The staff and guide went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. We had an overnight stop in Pakbeng where dinner was awesome. Best money spent yet. Thank you for everything!!

We did the Tour starting in Luang Prabang and ending in Huay Xai and it was one of the beat experiences in Laos. The boat was comfortable, the guide (Sommay) was very very nice and so was the whole team. If you come to Laos, you shouldn’t miss it!

We did the Mekong cruise end December this year. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The food on board was excellent, the program was surprisingly varied and its a wonderful way of discovering Laos a country which is undiscovered still by mass tourism. For example our stops to visit hill tribe villages were much more authentic than in Thailand.
We passed the time reading, taking pictures, talking with other passengers and watching river life float by.

Wunderschöne Mekong-Fahrt flussaufwärts. Vom Kapitän über die Köchin bis zum Guide ein tolles Team. Wir haben uns sicher und wohl gefühlt, Essen war fantastisch.

I did the downstream trip. Great boat with helpful staff. Super friendly guide who provides valuable information about the trip, life in Laos and the places visited along the way. The only point I complain about is that on the first day I was picked up at the hotel almost 1 hour later than agreed, without receiving any information. I had no idea whether I had been forgotten or whether it would just start later. Unfortunately, the telephone number provided for the shampoo office was not valid either
