DOKUMENTATIONSZENTRUM
The architectural complex that served as a backdrop for the large annual gatherings of the NSDAP.
You're standing on the site of the great NSDAP rallies, orchestrated by Adolf Hitler and his henchmen for mobilization and propaganda purposes. The 16.5 km² site, which includes various architectural complexes, still shows the dimensions of its immoderation: theKongresshalle(Congress Hall), never completed, was intended to be 70 meters high. The GroßeStraße, 2 km long and 40 m wide, was used for military parades and parades. The Zeppelin tribune(Zeppelintribüne), for which Albert Speer drew inspiration from the Pergamon altar, faced a large square with a capacity of 200,000 people... These locations served as backdrops for the staging of Nazi power during the NSDAP's annual celebrations. Aware of the power of images, Leni Riefenstahl was commissioned to make a propaganda film, The Triumph of the Will, in which the architecture - both the medieval Nuremberg and the Fascist architecture of the site - played a special role. A visit to these sites helps us to better grasp the megalomania of these Nazi high masses.
Pending the reopening of the Documentation Centre in 2026, an interim exhibition - very well done, clear and edifying - helps you explore the links between Nuremberg and National Socialism. There's a model of the complex to help you situate the various sites, and photos from the 1920s to the end of the war. A very well done exhibition, making the next one all the more promising.

I advise you to come in the morning and its opening, then stroll in Dutzenteich and finish your day with the house During (in the old town, near the castle).
