The Bavarian Forest National Park covers an area of 24,250 hectares and is the largest forest area in Central Europe with the only primeval forest in Germany . In addition to discovering its unspoiled nature and rare animal species such as the lynx or the wolf, it offers you some 130 peaks rising toover 1,000 meters in altitude to hike. You can enjoy the Arber, Osser, Rachel, Lusen and even the Brotjacklriegel. With 300 km of walking trails and 200 km of bike paths, it is the ideal place for cyclists, mountain bikers, and for spending a vacation in the fresh air with the family. Cependant, il ne faut pas cacher que de larges parties de la zone forestière sont dans un triste état. Et celui qui voit cela pour la première fois peut déjà être oppressé. De nombreux arbres sont dénudés et desséchés, voire même tombés à cause des intempéries. La philosophie du parc national de Bavière est que l'homme n'intervient pas. Il est donc laissé à la nature. Seuls les chemins sont dégagés ou les arbres sont coupés lorsque des personnes sont en danger. C'est déprimant quand on connaît la forêt d'autrefois.
