The second Thursday of the month after Pentecost, a day of processions in a very joyful atmosphere in the city centre.
On the second Thursday of the month after Pentecost, Corpus Christi is a day of processions in a joyful atmosphere in the city centre. In the streets, the inhabitants put out birch branches and set up four altars for the faithful. In the city centre, there is a big procession during which the priest or bishop carries a monstrance containing a host under a canopy. Corpus Christi is only celebrated in Catholic communities and is not celebrated by Protestants. In Bavaria it is a public holiday.
