João Baptista, "the fort, the church and the man". João Baptista is the historian of Ibo. A true memory of the island, João, no less than 93 years old, has been interviewed several times by Mozambican dailies and Portuguese magazines. It is very easy to meet him and get to know him, because on the island everyone knows him. Just make an appointment. Take him on a tour of the city, the anecdotes will come of their own accord. Legend has it that he would have been the first black Ibo's child to go to school.
