Superb Cistercian abbey with a remarkable 13th-century gatehouse, open for weddings and receptions in Villers-Canivet.
A splendid place and a small jewel founded for nuns in 1127. The porter’s lodge of the 13th century is the only medieval porter’s lodge of a Cistercian abbey which has remained in its original state in France. The buildings have been restored since 1976. Today, all the important works carried out on the various buildings have really taken shape. The monastic complex becomes, as a result, increasingly coherent in our eyes. The remains of the cloister of the 18th century and some others of the 16th are now saved. Also worth seeing is the Grange aux Dîmes and its roof of 50,000 old tiles, restored, the 15-hectare pond, the one-hectare park (much younger, it was created in 1981). The owner, passionate about its old stones, will make you discover the eventful life of his dear nuns. The visit is worth it whether you stay in these places or appropriate them for a few hours: the site is also open for weddings and receptions.
Nous avons fait des km pour nous y rendre et c'était fermé donc nous n'avons rien pu voir !!!
