This is one of the most representative local buildings in terms of religious architecture. Situated at the very end of the rua da Banana, you have to climb a few steps to reach one of the country's oldest and best-preserved churches. Built in 1493 and still in use today, this Manueline-style chapel has been magnificently clad in intricately designed blue and yellow azulejos that can still be admired today. Outside, you'll find the graves of influential figures dating back several centuries.
