TRIANGEL

Austrian restaurant €€
4/5
2 reviews

A gourmet institution, even semi-gastronomic for certain dishes. The restaurant, which also has a delicatessen right next door, has chosen to showcase quality local produce. The Triangel restaurant, opposite the Palais des Festivals, welcomes you in a wooden room with a friendly, youthful atmosphere. But the best part, as soon as the first rays of sunshine appear, is the pleasant terrace. On the plate, very good Austrian cuisine: soups, salads, brasserie dishes, divine desserts, regional wines and house water, still or sparkling.

SANKT PETER STIFTSKULINARIUM

Austrian restaurant €€

The Sankt Peter Stiftskulinarium is the oldest restaurant in Europe. The restaurant dates back to 803 and is located in a cellar dug into the rock. Originally it was the monks' refectory. 2020 marks its transformation with the opening of a very nice lounge in the courtyard, live DJ on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights and brunch on weekends. It's really the place to be! On the spot, two restaurants: the Peter with Austrian and Mediterranean cuisine and the 803, more refined.

ALTER FUCHS

Austrian restaurant €€

A delightful and unlikely nugget on the touristy Linzergrasse, under the sign of a fox. You can sit on the street-side terrace, in the cosy, vintage vaulted room of a historic building or, better still, in the very pleasant inner courtyard, which you'll appreciate for its romanticism and calm. The service is friendly and the Austrian dishes generous. Dishes for two can satisfy 4 people! Fresh fruit and berry juices and non-alcoholic cocktails, local beers and wines. A real favorite.

UNCLE VAN NATURAL KITCHEN

Vietnamese restaurant

Three locations in town for this friendly little chain founded by Mr. Van. A motivated team and a fresh/vitamin/fair-price ethic are enough to make the difference. You can eat in or take away. The Pho soups are perfect, and you can customize your wok: ramen, mushrooms, shrimp, coriander, lemon-ginger sauce, for example. Excellent! The Van de la Steingasse, a little way from Linzegasse and the lively banks of the Salzach, is a good choice.

CAFÉ CLASSIC

Austrian restaurant €€

For a stopover at any time of day. You'll have no trouble finding the address. Café Classic is located on the first floor of Mozart's residence on Makart Platz. Classic terrace on the sidewalk. You'll love the breakfast menu, the lunch menus and the Austrian and vegetarian cuisine, all served in the warm style of a Viennese café. Carrot soup with ginger is a classic anytime meal, among other affordable and (in some cases) higher-calorie options.

RESTAURANT INNERGEBIRG

Austrian restaurant €€

A cosy, rustic restaurant under gothic vaulted ceilings with a small terrace on Linzergasse, frequented by loyal locals and welcome visitors. The food and drink here is Austrian, or rather regional. Delicious flour, spinach and cheese dumplings, spicy and nourishing, for example, choice of soups, traditional goulash, etc. You won't leave hungry! The service team is efficient and pleasant. A long and beautiful wine list from all Austrian regions, in all three colors.

WIRSTHAUS ELEFANT

Austrian restaurant €€

Look out for the elephant sign! An excellent address. This is the small restaurant of the 4-star hotel of the same name, housed in a historic 13th-century building in the heart of the old town, just off the Getreidegasse. Enjoy hearty, tasty traditional Austrian cuisine in the dining room or on the cobblestone sidewalk, in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Excellent value for money. It's also a bar where you can make a pleasant stopover during your visit to old Salzburg. The new generation of the family is at the helm.
