Former Mayerling hunting lodge, where the bodies of Archduke Rudolf and Marie were found, with a museum recounting its history.
On 30 January 1889, the bodies of the Austrian-Hungarian Crown Archduke Rudolf and his mistress Marie Vetsera were found in the hunting lodge at Mayerling. A convent with a church occupies the site of the former hunting lodge. You can visit the new modern museum dedicated to this dramatic episode of Austrian history to better understand the personalities of Rudolf and Mary, and the circumstances of their death. A poignant visit.
