HUNDERTWASSER HOUSE
This experimental, humanist and ecological collective home was designed in 1983 by the visionary Hundertwasser.
It was commissioned by the city of Vienna. This experimental, humanistic and ecological collective housing was designed in 1983 by the visionary Hundertwasser. On stage, colors, undulations, gilding in the style of this original artist who put Man and nature at the center of his research, not claiming any artistic quality, not seeking recognition from his peers nor from intellectual circles, resolutely offbeat, undeniably poetic and totally independent. There is nothing regular or symmetrical about the Hundertwasser building, but curves, vegetation, common spaces for conviviality, and nods to nature. It is a house of utopia, also called Hundertwasser Village, which continues to attract students and architects from around the world. The floor undulates, the colors burst, and right next to it, in the gallery also signed by Hundertwasser, the merchants of the temple sell plastic trinkets as souvenirs, postcards or T-shirts in the painter's colors, sandwiches...
This village is a realization in the image of Hundertwasser who explained: "It is large and small at the same time, structured and anarchic, able to encompass the Viennese style to better distance itself from it, we are welcomed by water, trees, color, life ... ". An amazing discovery that makes you want to go to the museum dedicated to Hundertwasser a few blocks away to learn more about this very surprising and admirable Viennese.
