A church whose magnificence is the work of Jesuit architect, painter and sculptor Andrea Pozzo.
The Jesuit church, also called the university church, was built between 1623 and 1627, when the Society of Jesus merged its college with the philosophy and theology faculties of the University of Vienna. Its magnificence is the work of the Jesuit architect, painter and sculptor Andrea Pozzo (1642-1709) whose tomb is visible in the crypt. Its austere facade contrasts with the baroque interior with golden cherubs, exuberant frescoes, volutes and domes .
