Founded in 1971, Vienna's prestigious Hofburg Orchestra regularly gives classical concerts in the beautiful halls of the former imperial palace, the Festsaal or the Zeremoniensaal, the hall for festivities and ceremonies. Since 1980, the orchestra has delighted audiences with its year-round programming, from New Year's concerts to traditional Christmas concerts, including the famous Strauss & Mozart concerts, held several times a month from May to October. The orchestra also performs at other venues, including the Opera House and the Liechtenstein Palace.
