Waterfall located in a lunar landscape, the most powerful waterfall in Europe at Asbyrgi
The Dettifoss waterfall, located in a lunar landscape, is the most powerful waterfall in Europe. It was favoured by Ridley Scott for the opening scene of Prometheus (2012). Dettifoss is 45 m high and 100 m wide and flows through a canyon carved out of the basalt. The spectacle is all the more breathtaking as you can get very close to the waterfall. Be careful: it's slippery! The access to the site (48 km from Mývatn) is done either by the left bank of the Jökulsá (road 862) or by the right bank (road 864).

A voir !
