Die Askja-Tour haben wir am 27.08.23 gemacht. Die Tour war super, nicht nur wegen des Sonnenscheins am Nachmittag, als wir am Viti-Kratersee waren! Tourguide Anna hat uns nicht nur die geologischen und geografischen Aspekte der Tour erläutert, sondern uns auch mit der Welt der Trolle und Elfen bekannt gemacht. Schließlich gab es noch Kindheitserinnerungen (wir sind
ja mit einem Familienunternehmen unterwegs!) und sogar Souvenier-Einkaufstipps.
Der Allrad-Bus kam mit dem Gelände besser zurecht, als beim ersten Anblick befürchtet ????. Trotz des schweren Geländes kamen wir relativ bequem an. Wegen der Länge der Tour waren die Pausen kurz, aber ausreichend. Am Kratersee war für Hin- und Rückweg ausreichend Zeit für die Betrachtung der tollen Landschaft.
Fazit: Tolles Erlebnis, sehr empfehlenswert. Danke für dieses schöne Erlebnis!

Great trip! Maybe the tour guide could have given us more information about the area / landscape / history. When we asked questions he was happy to answer. He did say the regular guide was sick and he had to step in. Still an excellent tour, just be prepared for a long drive.

Quelle magnifique journée nous avons passée ! Le trajet en bus (pas évident car de nombreuses secousses mais très bien géré grâce à notre super chauffeur) passe très vite car nous faisons de nombreus arrêts à différents centres d'intérêt tous plus beaux les uns que les autres. De plus, nous avions un guide extra (Bjarni si mes souvenirs sont bons). Il nous a fait découvrir la région avec humour et passion. Je recommande cette activité à 1000% !

I did the Askja Classic tour and the tour could be great but there are too many stops before Askja.
At Askja we only had 2 hours and 15 minutes. Remind that you have to walk 35-45 minutes one way too!
So there are only 1 hour directly at the lakes. If you want to take a bath and make some photos this is not enough time.
Also its not allowed to eat in the bus. So when it is raining you have to eat outside.
For 150€ p.p. I cant recommend it.
Rent an own 4x4 for one day would make more sense.

An incredible trip I dreamt of for the best part of my life. Iceland rewarded this commitment with an amazing weather, baby arctic foxes and Annick, our wonderful guide! This long and bumpy road was worth every minute on it and I was very impressed by the maestria of our driver on : rocks, sand, water and snow. Definitely a huge thank you to everyone involved.
