The hostel is very well run and the common areas are pleasant and spacious. There is a good kitchen and the vibe was positive amongst people making different meals. The bedroom was comfortable and the bathrooms were clean and of good size.

We had a room with a private bathroom which was huge. It was conveniently loccated to the shared kitchen, which was well stocked with equipment. The dining room is large and has heaps of room for large groups. Check in was easy due to the great communication. We had the instructions and were initially, the only ones in the building. The hostel is within an easy 5 minute walk to the supermarket. Would recommend this place.

Ich war jetzt zum vierten Mal in Island und jedes Mal habe ich hier übernachtet. Das Hostel ist so schön, sehr sauber und die Lage ist super! Die Küche ist gut ausgestattet und ich hatte nie das Gefühl, dass es überfüllt ist.
Seydisfjordur ist zwar nicht groß, aber total schön für einen Spaziergang und einen Kaffee an der Bucht. Wir haben dort auch Robben gesehen

It was the most beautiful hostel I’ve ever stayed at.
Everything was more than clean and the sauna was a real highlight for me.
The kitchen area was perfect! Enough space for everybody, well equipped and clean.
I had a small private room. The space was more than enough :) and the bed was comfy.
The staff was really friendly.
I would 10000% book there again.

Een geweldige opzet, hoe je zonder een bezette receptie toch iedereen de kamer wijst. Een leuk authentiek hotel op een goede locatie van het centrum. Een aanrader!

Love the history of the building & in general the hostel is a very good one, even having a sauna in the basement, which I didn’t have time to make use of unfortunately. One major negative was the lighting in the shower area, I was up early & the only one in the showers. In the middle of my shower, the lights went off. Potentially very dangerous as I had to grapple around in the dark, put a towel on & exit the shower to switch the basement lights back on. So, the basement lights are on a timer. Bare that in mind if you are down there alone.

Guesthouse limpia y con personal muy amable. Aunque nos alojamos en la habitación con baño privado, se escuchaba todo lo que pasaba alrededor ya que nos tocó habitación al lado de los baños comunes. Durante la noche no es problema pero a primera hora de la mañana es molesto, la gente no tiene muchos miramientos.

Très belle ancienne maison avec une cuisine moderne et agréable. Tout très propre.
Le sauna est appreciable.
C'est mon séjour préféré en Islande et prix très intéressant.

Absolutely loved the hot dry sauna. No extra charge. Needs 10ish minutes to warm up if not already on, showers right next to it. Don't miss it if you stay there

Siamo stati una notte in questo bellissimo borgo sul fiordo e abbiamo dormito qui, a due passi dal centro. Ostello molto grande e pulito, parcheggio in loco e spazi comuni top, soprattutto la cucina. Personale gentile come sempre. Torneremmo qui sicuramente

The hostel is generally cozy and equipped in a good style. It is well located and close to the city center. However, the walls are very thin and hence it was pretty noisy until late evening. Unfortunately our room was directly besides the 2 shared toilets on the upper floor which added to the constant noise level (doors banging, stamping on the floor,…). The shared kitchen was rather messy, probably depends on the guests. As we were searching for a rather quite and more private place to stay the hostel is not recommended for folks like us, but is probably nice if you look for a rather active-noisy-family orientated atmosphere.

Das Hafaldan HI hostel war wunderschön. Es ist ein Hostel mit Geschichte. Früher war in dem Gebäude das Krankenhaus von Seyðisfjörður. An jeder Ecke wird man auf ganz liebevolle Weise an die Geschichte des Hauses erinnert. Die Einrichtung ist schön und sehr liebevoll. Wir haben in einem alten Schwesternzimmer übernachtet. Dies konnte man an der Tür erkennen. Das Zimmer war sehr gemütlich eingerichtet und wir hatten in einer kleinen Nische sogar ein Waschbecken. Die zahlreichen Badezimmer waren sauber und gut ausgestattet. Auch die Küche und der Essensraum waren sehr gut augestattet und man hat ausreichend Platz. Besonders hervorzuheben ist auch die Lage des Hostels. Man ist nur drei Gehminuten von der kleinen Kirche des Ortes entfernt und kann Seyðisfjörður von hieraus sehr gut zu Fuß erkunden.

The hostel itself was fine. The public areas are nice and functional, free saunas, and hygge, as they say in the north. The staff was friendly.
We booked a 4 people room with private toilet/shower for 2/3 of August 2023. We were given room 14. The room was nice, high ceiling, ok beds and also clean.
The private toilet/shower however was a disaster: there was that stench of black mould and uric acid, and on closer inspection the whole lower part of the shower area was spotted in black mould and around the toilet there were signs of the works of uric acid on the paint on the backsplash.
After discovering that, we kindly asked the staff if they could either give us another room or do someting about it. While talking they admitted that they knew about that issue of room 14. Since the hostel was fully booked (day before departure of the ferry) a room change was not possible, understandably.
BUT that they did not send over somebody from cleaning, to at least try to do something about it, was disappointing. Instead they pointed out, that we could use the public toilet/showers (which also had sign of mould, as I figured out later). Only after a civilized debate, on what to expect when booking and paying for a room with private shower and not getting it, the staff agreed on a meager 6.8% reimbursement. Changing to another hostel or hotel was not possible either, because of the ferry…
What should have been a nice last night in iceland somehow was ruined by black mould and uric acid.
At least staff promised that they will try to do someting after the seaseon…

Beautiful and affordable. You have chance to meet many students and many tourists.
The place is next to very big sea. So you can enjoy the nature. A cup of coffee with a sunrise and seeing reflections of the boat is something that I love.

Billigt, pænt, hyggeligt. OK - toilet og bad udenfor--- men heraf jo også den billige pris. God seng - eneste sted hvor vi sov på en stor dobbeltmadras. Vi brugtes også saunaen. Man kan lave mad her - og det er jo en fordel hvis man har fundet svampe eller noget mærkeligt fra supermarkedet. (prøv lammehoved!! - det skal koges to timer med løg, gulerødder osv)

Perfetto, purtroppo siamo arrivati molto tardi per poter sfruttare appieno la struttura. Struttura pulita, letti comodi e puliti e cucina con tutto il necessario. La sala ha una vista stupenda sul fiordo
