Ölfus is a municipality located on the southwest coast of Iceland, around 50 km from the capital Reykjavik. With a growing population of just over 2,000, Thorlakshofn is the municipality's largest town with around 1,600 inhabitants. Ölfus offers a wide range of beautiful landscapes with black sand beaches, cliffs, lava formations, caves, geothermal areas and living hot springs. From Thorlakshofn and the whole municipality, you have sensational panoramic views over most of the south coast, including the volcanoes Mt. Hekla and Eyjafjallajokull volcanoes and the Westman Islands.
