In the south of Iceland, in the village of Ölfus, nestled under the imposing mountain Ingólfsfjall, is the Viking restaurant.
Nestled at the foot of the imposing Ingólfsfjall mountain in the south is the Viking restaurant Ingólfsskáli, which looks like it's straight out of an episode of Game of Thrones. It's a place where heritage and tradition come together to offer you an exceptional meal in a real longhouse with a grass-covered roof and a rustic, wooded interior. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, and the decor seems to have stepped out of another era. Named after Ingólfur Arnarson, Iceland's first settler, Ingólfsskáli will transport you back to the golden age of the Vikings, with hospitality renowned from generation to generation and an unusual culinary experience. Among other things, you can quench your thirst by drinking directly from a horn, eat with cutlery forged in the fire, and sample traditional Icelandic dishes prepared with top-quality local ingredients: lamb, smoked salmon, seasonal vegetables, seafood and other meats, the menu varies periodically to guarantee freshness. There's even a vegetarian menu for those who feel like a Viking but don't want to eat animal products. We barely wanted to go in….
Food and wine was awful. Service was to be desired. Left hungry and running to the car to avoid the smell.
I didn't give the 5th star because we went to celebrate my husband's birthday and I'd have appreciated to get sort of a greeting card or something to make the event special, knowing the high price you have to pay for eating here.
I won't go back because honestly would have been appreciated to take into account of these kind of details regarding the service.
