EINAR JÓNSSON MUSEUM (LISTASAFN EINAR JÓNSSONAR)
Museum in a large garden residence with a large amount of paintings and sculptures in Reykjavik
The museum is housed in a large garden residence in the shadow of Hallgrímskirkja, which belonged to the sculptor Einar Jónsson, surely Iceland's best known artist. A large number of his paintings and sculptures are displayed on three floors. His works, with their rather modern forms, smooth and pure contours, are strongly inspired by Icelandic mythology and folklore, while his last works are more symbolist. A beautiful garden completes the visit.
