They’ve seen this review and have now blamed me for giving them the wrong address. I confirmed the address with them at 9pm the night before in a time stamped email.

If I could give 0 stars to this company I would. I didn’t ride with them due to their own mistake with pickup, but the customer service had been absolutely shocking and I’m still chasing a refund.

I booked a ride with them months in advance and was really excited, the night before I confirmed my pickup address via email. The morning of I stood in the cold for 1hr 20 minutes waiting for them but they never came. I tried to email twice, turned my phone onto international roaming and had no missed calls. I then walked around and tried to find someone but there was no one. The worst part was I had a car and could have driven had they told me they were struggling to find me.

I emailed over the course of the day asking what had occurred. I got one line answers at best, saying things like ‘I waited for 20mins…..’ ‘you weren’t there’. I asked them where they’d gone and they emailed me a photo of the wrong street number, they went to the wrong place. They went to 2A when the email the night before specified 4A which was on a different part of the street. I was in the general area for 1.5 hours total as well.

They tried to offer me a makeup ride but I was leaving the next day and had no free time. I was devastated as I’m from Australia, this was why I tried so hard to confirm the address and be proactive.

It took 3 days for them to agree they would refund me as the mistake was there’s. That was a month ago. I’ve sent emails every week asking when I can expect the $300 aud in my account. There emails were always unprofessional, saying things like ‘we’ll keep in touch’, but then they never do. They now don’t reply to my emails at all, have told me they have no idea how to issue a refund and even after stating I would dispute it with my credit card within a week they still don’t reply to me.

Their customer service is atrocious and they’re dishonest. If they don’t know how to issue a refund with their account provider then they shouldn’t be running a business. It doesn’t take 4 weeks to find this out either. Not only did I miss out on a ride, I wasted my last day in Iceland because everywhere else was full and I had nothing booked.

Avoid this company or drive yourself to the venue. Dont expect a refund even if the mistake was on their side and don’t trust them to respond once they’ve got your money. Im disputing this with my credit card but im not hopeful I’ll get my money back.

Es war ein grandioser Ausritt! Sehr familiär, wir wurden privat abgeholt vom Hotel, heiße Getränke davor und danach. Unser Guide Sarah war einfach unglaublich. Kurze Einführung (ich saß noch nie auf einem Pferd) und schon ging es los durch malerische Landschaften, verschiedene Gangarten wenn wir wollten, und einer ganz tollen Zeit! Man merkt sie lieben was sie tun, großartige Pferde und ein atemberaubendes Erlebnis! Wenn wir noch einmal in Island sofort wieder ???? danke viking Horse und Crew für diesen einzigartigen und wundervollen Vormittag ❤️

Es war ein unglaublicher Ausritt.
Wurden sehr freundlich mit Kaffee und Tee empfangen. Für jeden Reiter*in wird das passende Pferd ausgesucht. Immer wider sehr gerne

We had a really lovely time. Viggo and his staff were friendly, helpful, and took great care of us. In addition to trail ride pace we were able to experience the Tölt (a quick but fast Icelandic gait for a horse). The horses were so well taken care of, which was very important to me.

Thank you Viggo for the ride and your hospitality. Made us feel welcome and safe. Hope the best for you and your company.

Great trip! Knowledgeable and friendly guide for three novice horseback riders. Trail was beautiful and horses were well trained. Super easy pick up and drop off as well. Definitely recommend!

War leider gar nicht wie erwartet, wir sind nicht aufs Pferd gestiegen da wir so ein schlechtes Gefühl hatten.
Wir riefen kurz vorher an und gaben an erfahrene Reiter zu sein und uns wurde gesagt es gäbe eine Tour für uns. Die Tour war dann aber mit absoluten Reitanfängern (Teilweise 1. Mal auf dem Pferd).
Außerdem hat ein Pferd sehr schwer geatmet (eventuell Schnupfen) und im Stall hat auch ein Pferd paarmal gehustet.
Zudem waren die Pferde sehr schmutzig (Schwarze Finger nach dem Streicheln) und das Fell war klebrig.
(Nicht zu vergleichen mit einem geputzen Offenstall Pferd, welches ja auch nicht unbedingt blitzblank ist)
Mulmig war uns auch, als der Guide die Zügelführung demonstrierte, indem er die Zügel in den Steigbügel eines der wartenden Pferde hakte. Der Bügel schlackerte natürlich und das Pferd zeigte darüber deutlich Anzeichen von Unwohlsein.
Der Hauptgrund für den Abbruch war aber, dass beim zeigen des Aufsteigens, der Sattel komplett verutschte und kurz komplett an der Seite des Pferdes hing.
Das war uns dann einfach zu gefährlich, da in der Einführung bereits vor vorbeifahrenden Autos und Motorrädern gewarnt wurde und wir davon ausgehen, dass die Tour zumindest teilweise an einer Straße entlang führt.
Uns wurde zwar mitgeteilt, dass das Rutschen des Sattels daran gelegen habe, dass noch nicht nachgegurtet worden war. Wir sind jedoch der Ansicht, dass sowas bei einer seriösen Reittour nicht passieren darf und der Gurt, gerade wenn absolute Anfänger dabei sind und die Pferde lange gesattelt standen, vor dem Aufsteigen geprüft werden muss.

Zur Tour selbst und den Ponys können wir nichts sagen, da wir abgebrochen haben. Die Ponys haben nett gewirkt.

Was uns leider sehr negativ aufgefallen ist, war das Verhalten des Guides. Als wir mitgeteilt haben, dass wir die Tour abbrechen wollen, hauptsächlich, da wir bereits schlechte Erfahrungen mit rutschenden Sätteln gemacht haben und dieses Risiko nicht eingehen wollten, war die Reaktion des Guides in keinster Weise einfühlsam. Es wurde nicht versucht, das Problem zielorientiert zu lösen (z.b selbst satteln o.ä.), um uns zum bleiben zu bewegen/Sicherheit zu vermitteln. Stattdessen wurde nur unfreundlich darauf hingewiesen, dass er ein super Guide sei und die Pferde brav (was den Sattel aber nicht am Rutschen hindert) Als wir darauf bestanden haben zu gehen, hat er uns von der Gruppe isoliert und uns 75% des Preises berechnet. Mit 40000kr (ca 276 €) war uns das eigentlich zu viel. Als bemerkt wurde, dass wir unsicher waren,(wir hatten natürlich irgendwie doch ein schlechtes Gewissen) hat er angefangen Druck auszuüben, indem gesagt wurde, dass bereits der nachgelassene Preis nicht abgesprochen war (unterschwellige Drohung, dass wenn wir nicht sofort zahlen, den ganzen Preis zahlen müssen) Ausserdem wurde vehement und wiederholt (unfreundlich) darauf hingewiesen, wie toll er und die Pferde wären (was das Hauptproblem immer noch nicht in Ansätzen gelöst hat)Zudem wurde uns ein schlechtes Gewissen eingeredet, er hätte anderen wegen uns absagen müssen (Im Nachgang betrachtet eher unwahrscheinlich, da wir selbst sehr kurzfristig dazugekommen sind und auch noch einige Pferde im Stall standen) Letztendlich haben wir bezahlt, finden die Summe aber nicht angemessen und würden die Finger von diesem Anbieter lassen. Es ist verständlich, dass bei einer abgesagten Tour Unmut herrscht, die Art und Weise des Umgangs damit war jedoch sehr unprofessionell und hat uns in unserem Unwohlsein bei diesem Anbieter bestätigt.

PS: Die Anfänger wurden, teilweise schon auf den Pferden sitzend, mit einem kleinen Mädchen alleine gelassen, während man uns in einen anderen Raum gebracht hat (Kartenlesegerät wäre tragbar gewesen.)

My partner and I had an evening tour with Viggó and Anna (and a family of 5 that was mostly beginners), and we had an absolutely fantastic time. I’m a very experienced rider, and my partner is a total beginner. We both equally enjoyed ourselves—it was a highlight of the trip. We were able to tölt for long stretches (which surprised me!), and the gait is so smooth that beginners have no problem. The horses knew their job and were healthy. The stable was nice and clean, the tack was suitable, and the guides were very nice.

Super friendly and calm horses, wonderful guides and staff, and amazing views on the ride. My horse Sprinter liked his mid trek snacks on the plants, but we never stopped too long.

Tolle geführte Tour durch die Vulkanlandschaft. Für jeden Pferdeliebhaber ein absolutes MUSS :) Sehr gepflegter Umgang mit den Tieren.

Had an amazing ride for the first time on an Icelandic horse! Staff were so friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend these stables, and will definitely come back again!

Gute Organisation, freundliche Mitarbeiter aber weniger geeignet für erfahrene Reiter. Es sind zwar kleine Gruppen, es werden aber komplette Anfänger und erfahrene Reiter gemischt. Dadurch hatten wir leider einen sehr langsamen Ritt bei der Sleipnir Tour, der dadurch auch ein wenig langweilig war, leider. Es gab nur sehr kurze Tölt-Strecken zB. Die Umgebung ist toll. Aber man sollte die Gruppen entweder nach Erfahrung aufteilen oder ich würde diese Tour eher für Anfänger empfehlen

Wonderful ride and hospitality. The horses were well trained and great with our kids. Staff was kind, helpful and so nice to be with - they took great photos to share too!

We had a wonderful time on our cute Icelandic horses riding through the unique lava fields. Both my son and husband had been on a horse one prior time years ago but they did great. It’s a short drive to the stables which makes it super convenient from Reykjavik.

Wonderfull ride, my husband and i really enjoyed it, the horses are beautiful and well trained, we had a private tour with a lovely guide (Fiona) and we met the owner he was so friendly and welcoming. Thank you for having us create beautiful memories in Iceland.

Beautiful ride with very nice horses. Called in the morning and was able to ride in the evening. We are experienced riders so the tour was customised with lovely long tölting. Coffee to warm up afterwards. Would definitely recommend!

This was an amazing and personalized experience! The group size is small, and you get to spend a lot of time with the horses. The trail is beautiful! The hosts are so very nice! Highly recommend! All skill levels.

J’ai eu la chance De rencontrer de magnifiques personnes et leurs incroyables chevaux islandais , je travaille avec les chevaux et j’ai moi même des chevaux. J’ai été enchanté des ballades en tout petit groupe avec des guides cavalières passionnées. Je recommande a tout amoureux des chevaux de faire cette expérience auprès d’eux car ils sont dans le partage de leurs passions. Un accueil plus que chaleureux et des chevaux islandais exceptionnels. Encore merci de m’avoir fait vivre cette journée ♥️

Wish I could give a better review. The horses and scenery were amazing. Did not start off well, as our guide immediately asked us to remove our sunglasses as she does not like them. Considering they were prescription glasses and I have a light sensitivity condition, she reluctantly allowed it. She was also demeaning and condescending to the point my son started crying and my wife wanted it to end based on how she was constantly criticizing our son. I had to step in and calm everyone down. Julia kept telling us that horses are living creatures, as if we were not aware of it. We are a family that has ridden before. When I asked her to just let my son have some space, he was able to handle the horse well... which seemed to surprise her.

Wonderful experience. Anna our leader and Maria who had just arrived the day before from Denmark were so easy and patient, the horses are sweet, and the scenery is beautiful. My wife and I both thoroughly enjoyed it. We passed a MUCH larger horseback group from another stable, but ours was small and intimate…maximum of 8 riders (plus the two instructors). Anna even took us in her own car to drive us back to our hotel after the ride! Highly recommended!!

We had such a nice day with Viking Horses! The horses were so well-behaved, the staff obviously LOVE these animals and treat then like family. Everyone was friendly and warm, and after our lively ride we were treated to a warm beverage and nice company. Highly recommend!
