A retired firefighter in the 1950's opened this sought-after trattoria with a warm and relaxed atmosphere that will whet your appetite right away. Your mouth is watering when you look at the counter filled with deli meats and cheeses from all over Italy (there are even hams hanging from the ceiling!). Dishes of regional tradition are cooked in a wise way, always with that little touch that enhances the flavours. Pigeon risotto and Venetian-style veal liver with polenta are real culinary feats.

Nestled in a quiet street 500 meters from Piazza Arena, this traditional bistro has long been a favorite among regulars who appreciate both the food and the setting. The walls are decorated with old paintings and photos of Verona's former soccer and rugby teams; the menu includes fresh local products: bigoli with duck sauce, trout tartar with grilled vegetables, beef fillet with gorgonzola or Amarone liqueur, and grilled perch fillet with Soave wine. The wine list honors the wines of Valpolicella.

OSTERIA AL DUCA

It's very small but ultra warm! We love this friendly osteria with its rustic decoration and authentic family cooking. The owner supervises the room and places the guests in a benevolent manner before serving them good, nourishing and tasty dishes, typical of the Veneto region. A generous kitchen that seasoned its gorgonzola gnocchi, polenta stew and mascarpone cream tiramisu abundantly. A good address, appreciated by locals and tourists alike. Nice selection of wines and cheeses.

Seated on a wooden stool and leaning against a table with a checkered tablecloth, in a pretty patio, you can enjoy typical regional dishes(bigoli with duck ragout, polenta and braised meat, tiramisu) at reasonable prices. A barrel at the entrance lets you rest your glass while waiting for your table. The restaurant has a good reputation, but there are often long waits on weekend evenings, so we'll keep you waiting with a good glass of wine and some appetizers on the house.

12 APOSTOLI

Italian restaurant and pizzeria €€€

One of Verona's most famous restaurants. Located in a palace of the eighteenth century, he draws his name from the 12 merchants (and not apostles) who in 1750 used to be here to speak business before a dish of pasta e fagioli (pasta pasta) and a glass of Valpolicella. The same recipes are repeated today, of course more sought-after and refined. Since 1968, the literary prize of the same name has been awarded to the best writer every year. A gourmet address for well-filled portfolios.

The offer of this bottega near Via Mazzini is overflowing with typical Gladiators dishes: antipasto con gorgonzola, lardo, salumi e polenta; the risotto all'Amarone; lasagnette IOC coi; bigolis in duck sauce, caval pastissada; bollito con la pearà; fasoi imbogonai; The brasato all'Amarone… We could continue the list but we don't want to spoil you to discover the map of this restaurant that has existed in Verona since 1890. And the atmosphere is really very nice, the good helping wine… Because the wine list is not in rest. 1 500 Italian wine labels and the region. Possibility of buying bottles to take.

PIZZA E CAFFE

Pizzas

Whether it's pizzas, salads, lasagna or pasta, most of the dishes in this cafeteria are available at very low prices. An advantage that is all the more appreciable as the shop is very central. It is located in the heart of Verona, in a quiet street parallel to the very commercial Via Mazzini. The interior of the restaurant has a half-floor, a nice brightness and a rather sober and modern decoration. On the terrace, the tables are set with more care, with red tablecloths and yellow placemats.

LA SOSTA

Takeaway food

In this neighborhood bar, one never tires of watching the great Enzio prepare the aperitifs, with care and discretion, the tea towel screwed on the shoulder. It is necessary to say that the owner puts some effort in order to welcome the best, to make turn the ice cubes and to serve the glasses of prosecco or spritz as fresh as possible. Don't hesitate to order a small home-made dish, on the spot or to take away. We particularly recommend the bruschette. As for the atmosphere, it's very natural. The regulars will quickly share their conversations with you.
