Bardejov, an ancient royal and free city, could not do without an executioner. His gloomy residence is still present in the historic city centre, at 10 Veterna Street, which connects the square with the Hruba bastion. This former building housed, in addition to the executioner's apartment, a prison and a torture chamber. It has kept a truly unique atmosphere thanks to its tiny Renaissance windows on the 1st floor. It has also kept its pretty portal.
