ŠARIS CASTLE (ŠARISSKÝ HRAD)

The first written mention of this castle dates back to 1245. It was the center of the power of the region of Šariš, with its main tower of 28 m and its knights room. At the time, he was one of the largest castles in Slovakia. He is now in ruins since his explosion in 1660. It sits on the heights of Velký Šariš in a protected nature reserve. Recently, associations are structured to maintain and renovate the building.
