Housed in an Orthodox synagogue built in 1898, this museum traces the life of the Jewish community through the collections of Eugène Bárkány, an intellectual figure from Prešov. In the Middle Ages, local Jews were only allowed to go out into town during market hours. At the end of the 18th century, the first Jewish organizations were founded. In 1940, before the arrival of the Nazis, the community numbered 4,000 inhabitants, or 20% of the town's total population.
