CAGE OF SHAME (KLIETKA HANBY)

The Cage of Shame is a rare cultural monument in the historic centre of Levoča In the 16th century, this cage was used to publicly expose people guilty of indecent acts. And we must remember that the morality of that time was at a completely different level from that of today. For example, it was possible to be locked in this cage for offences such as defamation, adultery, drunkenness or exuberant night festivities.
