OLD MARKET STREET (STARÝ TRH ULICA)

This street is one of the oldest and most beautiful in the city with houses dating back to the 13th century. There are typical craftsmen's houses from the Spiš region with a single storey and a very special pedimented roof that contrasts with the bourgeois houses in the main square. The houses at numbers 33 and 47 are the best preserved. It is also here that the name of the city would find its sources, the "cheese market" which is said in German to be Käsmarkt.
