CALVARY (KALVÁRIA)

One kilometre north of the city centre, overlooking the entire valley in a green setting, the Way of the Cross leads to a 17th century church with sculptures and paintings celebrating the last hours of Christ's life. On the Scharffenberg hill (pointed hill), it was built on the initiative of Father František Perger (1700-1771), of the local Jesuit community, thanks to the donations of rich miners and dignitaries. This walk allows you to take a height and have another perspective on Banská Štiavnica.
