CATHEDRAL OF JOHN THE BAPTIST (SV JÁNA KRSTITEĽA)

Built between 1629 and 1637, the Cathedral of St John the Baptist is a fine example of early Baroque. The walls, vaults and arches of this building are richly decorated with stucco with figurative, vegetal or geometric motifs. The vault of the sacristy is decorated with paintings illustrating the life of Saint John the Baptist. The solid wood altarpiece is huge and sumptuous (19.8 m high and 14.8 m wide). It is the most spectacular religious building in Trnava.
