The Museum of Culture and Art of Ancient Russia, named after the Master of Icons (ЦЕНТРАЛЬНЫЙ ЦЕНТРАЛЬНЫЙ. МУЗЕЙ. ДРЕВНЕРУССКОЙ. КУЛЬТУРЫ. ИМ. А. РУБЛЁВА) is a real museum-project with a unique history. It was born under the USSR, in the initiative to safeguard the country's religious artistic heritage, at a time when the authorities were firmly opposed to it. Today there are ten exhibition halls filled with icons and archaeological artefacts in an exceptional setting. The museum is closed on Wednesdays and the last Friday of the month.
