MORTIMER TUNNEL

From the castle you can also join guided tours of the numerous underground galleries. The most famous is the one that was moved by the son of Queen Isabelle, Edouard III, to surprise her mother with Roger Mortimer, her lover and the murderer of his father, Edouard II. The case was thus discovered and Mortimer was convicted for treason and hanged. It is said that his phantom sometimes haunting the tunnel!
