This lively district of pubs and restaurants is not to be missed. The historic part of the port can be explored on foot, past old houses such as Elizabethan House. Don't miss the Mayflower Steps, where the pioneers who boarded the Mayflower bound for the New World set out from. To find out more, you can also visit the Mayflower Exhibition, in the tourist office building, which tells the story of the port's creation and the daily lives of its inhabitants.
