Things to see and do Cumaná

Built in 1945 under Medina Angarita. Declared museum in 1974. The neo-colonial style is predominant, with a central patio. The old city council houses the relics of Sucre, the mock-ups of battlefields, etc. The museum presents cultural events.

Created in 1981, this museum covers the pre-Hispanic period until today. It discovers interesting palaeontological and archaeological exhibits. Since its creation, the museum has participated in numerous investigative works in the area of Cumaná, mainly towards the cerro de caiguire where futt discovered an animal fossil of mégathérium (long tail toothless mammals) dating from Pleistocene (the third time of the néogène system which covers most of the recent glaciations, i. e. 15 000 years). More recently, the museum also presents collections of the Venezuelan colonial period, peasant and indigenous cultures.
