Less than 150 km east of Caracas, this park in 1974 has an area of 39 100 hectares. It is only a large beach, 29 km long and 6 km wide, that a huge lagoon separates from the Caribbean Sea. The lagoon, formed by the waters of the Guapo and Cúpira rivers, houses mangroves populated with colorful birds: martins, pelicans, pink flamingos, wild geese, cormorants, superb coro coros (red ibis) and other piscivorous. It is possible to rent a boat for sports fishing, here very gratifying. We even saw beginners get out of pieces more than 20 kg! Some parts of the beach are very quickly occupied because of the kiosks and other activities that attract bathers. However, as always, by walking a little one finds where to isolate itself.
