WUYUN TEMPLE GOLDEN PAGODA
Temple with one of the oldest bronze Buddha statues in Yunnan
Located to the south of the town, the golden pagoda of Wuyun Temple is without doubt Mangshi's most striking symbol. Inspired by Theravāda architecture, it is more reminiscent of Burmese stupas than the Han pagodas of the rest of Yunnan. Its golden spire rises above a small, well-kept park, where the faithful come daily to burn incense. The whole is serene, punctuated by small pavilions and gilded statues. The cultural proximity to Burma is fully apparent.
